Peggy E. Schmid is an honors graduate of the Atlanta College of Art which is now Savannah College of Art in Atlanta Georgia.  She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Sculpture in 1990 after leaving the corporate world and returning to college at the age of 29.  She is also an Honors Society alumni of Georgia State University where she studied for certification as an Art Educator. 
Peggy is a native Atlantan and now resides in Cumming Georgia where she has a woodturning studio in her home.  In here career as a sculptor she was involved in several art projects in Atlanta including the design and fabrication of the Pinwheel project at Tula.  She was the creator of sculptural elements for Morgan Creek Productions which were used in the movie Freejack in 1992 and was one of the featured artists on Artage for the City of Atlanta.  
She has moved from fine art sculpture and focused her artistic energies on producing fine woodturnings since 1998 and is a member of several woodturning organizations including the American Association of Woodturners.  She serves on the board of directors for Apple Ridge Woodturners in Ellijay Georgia and is a member of the Georgia Association of Woodturners.
Her works are included in collections throughout the United States.  She continues to win awards and recognition in art competitions for her woodturnings.
Ms. Schmid will be among the woodturning artists at Turning Southern Style VIII at Unicoi State Park in Helen Georgia on September 17,18, and 19 and will be doing demonstrations at several clubs in the surrounding areas.
You may view the most recent works on the web pages and you will find several on display at the Artist Emporium Gallery in Alpharetta Georgia.  In September 2010 she will have work in the new Art Gallery in Jasper Georgia.
