We are pleased to present the works of the artist, Peggy E. Schmid. Peggy is a native Atlantan whose life has been spent mostly in and around the Atlanta area. After working in the corporate sector for many years, she returned to college and the world of art which was her first love. At the age of 35 she obtained her degree in Fine Arts from the Atlanta College of Art, with a major in Sculpture. It was her lifelong dream to become an artist.
Peggy is a long standing member of the American Association of Woodturners, Georgia Association of Woodturners and Apple Ridge Woodturners. She strives to contribute as much as she can to these groups with demonstrations, voluteering during their symposiums and representing them at various tradeshows.
Peggy is a frequent demonstrator at many events in and around the Metro Atlanta Area. She was a guest demonstrator at the Atlanta Woodworkers Show in January and demonstrated for the new Dalton Area Woodturners Guild in February. She is scheduled to demonstrate for the Apple Ridge Woodturners in November and will show some of her texturing and adorning techniques on Platters and bowls.
Peggy has received many awards for Woodturning including Best in Show at the Canton Arts Festival and First Place in the Chamblee Festival. Her art pieces are cherished among collectors throughout the country.
